The Portsea Masters was conceived as a tournament where you go into battle with your buddy, fight like hell through the bunkers, rough and scrub - and hit the highs with massive drives and clutch putts. It's about backing each other up, and strategising on your brother's strengths on every shot.
For the 10th anniversary of the Portsea Masters this year, we're going to be celebrating the great musical duos of our time. Lennon & McCartney? Check. Simon & Garfunkel? Yep. Chaka Dimas & Pliers? Who could ever forget.
For such a grand occasion, we needed a golf course up to the task. And we got it. Playing on the best public access course on the Australian Mainland, a Tom Doak masterpiece - we'll be playing at the sublime St Andrews Beach Golf Course. It's ben a personal favourite of mine for years - forgiving off the tees, but asks all the questions of your second shot.
This year is a little different - it's on a Friday. Friday November 10 to be exact - slap bang between Oaks Day and Stakes Day. It will be an 11.45am arrival, for an early afternoon tee-off.
This year's donations will be sent to The Brain Foundation. This is in honour of Russ Pike's much-loved Mum who passed away in 2022. Every little bit we can give helps.
Registrations wll be opening up this week.
We'll have an official photographer there again, and the Rib-Eye Raffle will be back, as too all of the Longest Drive & Nearest-to-Pin competitions. So get the clubs out and start sharpening up them skills!
