It was our final outing this year at Portsea GC, with the club's confusing initiative to make weekends a members-only affair from 2025 onwards. The standard of golf did not disappoint, with a record 14 birdies being scored, and the most players in the tournament (24) since 2016. We welcomed two new players to the Portsea Masters family: Michael Ross (52) and Cam Andrews (53).

After coming so close for many years, Johan Gantin broke through for his maiden green fez with some scintillating golf. He was supported by the cool head of Fraser Pollock, who was glowing after a ten-year hiatus from the top spot. Cam Andrews proved he was going to be a force to reckon with in future PMs, and Rob Gregory lit up the course with debutant Michael Ross.

Many thanks have to go to the contributions from many of the players to help beef up the prizes and overall merch: Stuey, Johan, Gools, Runda, Cam, Jim P: it was all much appreciated, as was the gift to the chairman at the end! It's all a labour of love.

Here are some of the highlights/lowlights from the weekend:

  • Johan gets his first win, and Frase his second (10 year gap)

  • The best table at Portsea Pub on a perfect night for Chairman's evening

  • Fraser's whiskies at Chairman's evening

  • Gools almost killing said Chairman with his drive on the 17th

  • 14 Birdies - a PM record. Jim Gaylard now holds the most scored overall (14)

  • SOB has the most Pars overall (85) and JB the most Bogeys (108)

  • Pete Gaidszkar rocketing up to 6th ranked player in the comp

  • George is continuing his good form, and Jim Pappas needs a top player for PM13

  • Alex again with some amazing photos
