What a cracker of a Saturday that was. I didn't think the weather could have beaten what we had on 2016 at Portsea GC, but I reckon Mother Nature loves the old Portsea Masters. I only wish the quality of my golf had done justice to the day. I'll be getting lessons before PM6!
Here are some of the highlights from the weekend:
The Weather - on both Friday and Saturday. Sparkling.
Friday night and Saturday night Footy
The Friday Snaghouse - thanks Brett!
$550 raised for charity
The peanut gallery on the 18th hole
Runda's Starsky & Hutch 180 hand-brakies
If Michael & Frase's Port doesn't suit you around the course - the Scotch certainly will!
The team shirts looked mint
Sorrento Hotel Public Bar followed by the 'Bay Room'. Atmosphere was amazing.
Fraser's shuttle service - can't thank you enough mate.
2 Photographers are better than one!
17 sleepers at 16 Martins lane on Saturday. 4 stayed at 12 Martins next door. Go figure.
It was the most evenly-scored competition ever for the Masters
Stevie's production-line groove of the Mornin' Burgers
Dougie's bloody bubble bath rubdown booty-call delays on his way down on Friday.
You can see the final leaderboard attached. Here are some quick stats from the day:
Best First 9: 39 [3 Over] (Rob/George)
Best Second 9: 41 [5 Over] (Rob/George)
Only one 9 for the day:
1st [Par 4] (Cam/Jim). If they had scored par here they would have won the tournament.
Four Birdies this year:
2nd [Par 5] (Rob/George)
4th [Par 3] (Pete/Karl)
9th [Par 4] (Cam/Jim)
15th [Par 5] (Cam/Jim)
Hardest Holes: Hole 1 (Dogleg left Par 4) and Hole 11 (Hazardous short Par 3)
Easiest Holes: Holes 15 (Dogleg right Par 5) and 16 (Straight Par 5)
Best score 'Off the Stick': 80 [8 Over] (Rob/George) (Jus/Pete got 77 in 2017)
Average Net Score for the day: 70 [2 Under]
Average Score 'Off the Stick': 88 [16 over]
The Meat Tray Winners: Karl and Rich
Great work by all, and thanks to all of my helpers & cleaners over the weekend - it is very much appreciated! Next year we are back at the spiritual home of the Masters again - Portsea Golf Club. Let's hope the sun shines high again! - JB
